Let’s Talk About the Weather

Pike’s Peak, Colorado

It actually snowed a couple days ago up on Pike’s Peak, in Colorado. It seems a little early, but the weather this summer has not been typical to say the least. We have had weather that matches the Pacific Northwest. Strange for a state that is supposed to be one of the sunniest. Oh, well…

Personally, I know when something is out of the “ordinary” it only fuels creativity. The “out of the ordinary” provides plenty of opportunities to capture interesting subjects that I normally would not. Thus, this wonderful opportunity to capture the first snow of the season. I personally love to use black and white photography with winter-type subjects. I find the texture and lines most interesting.

We often take pictures of the sky when it is rife with pink fluffy clouds or white cotton balls gliding along a amazing blue sky. Come to think of it, loads of sunrises and sunsets grace my photographic line-up, but I admit, I have very few (one, I think) photos of interesting stormy skies. I certainly will have to correct that. Storms can be quite photogenic and the Rocky Mountains certainly have their share of show-stoppers.

Until next time,
